Description
**The Rodio Craft White Wolf 62 MLS** is a high-end Japanese rod engineered for modern Trout Area fishing, where precision, finesse, and control are essential. Developed over more than five years under the guidance of master angler Yukio Matsumoto, it represents the second generation of the iconic White Wolf series and has become a favorite among elite Japanese competitors and demanding hobby anglers alike.
This rod was specifically designed to target so-called “passive” trout—fish that don’t aggressively strike but instead react only when the lure comes extremely close. These conditions demand ultralight lures and delicate lines, which are highly effective but challenging in terms of presentation and hook-setting. **The White Wolf 62 MLS rises to this challenge by combining sharp responsiveness with the necessary flex, ensuring secure hook holds and fewer lost fish.**
One of the defining features of the 62 MLS is its slow taper design, which provides a uniform bend across the entire blank. Unlike fast-taper rods that bend primarily at the tip, the slow taper gives anglers smoother lure control and significantly reduces the chance of throwing the hook during the fight. The blank transmits even the softest bites directly to the hand, a sensitivity highly praised by Japanese reviewers. **The rod feels firm in hand, but during the fight, it reveals a refined balance and a controlled softness that helps absorb every sudden movement of the fish.**
The 62 MLS excels with spoons and small hard baits like cranks and minnows. It performs best with PE braid and ester lines, though it also handles nylon lines capably. Despite its low weight (approximately 62 g), it delivers excellent casting accuracy and sufficient backbone to control fish during the fight. Only premium components are used—a natural cork grip and titanium guides with TORZITE ceramic inserts ensure both sensitivity and durability.
